The John Howard Society of Durham Region values the contributions that our volunteers and students have made to enhance our programs and overall capacity to meet the needs in our community. We welcome applications for VOLUNTEER and STUDENT positions through the following process:
We invite all applicants to participate in our staging process for student selection.
Stage 1: Attend a general information session regarding JHS Durham services and practicum options
Stage 2: Students with a continued interest are invited to indicate their area/ranked choice of interest at the end of the information session or by established deadline.
Stage 3: Students will be invited to attend a screening interview with the program specific mentor.
Stage 4: Selected candidates will be invited to attend an agency orientation session to complete necessary school and JHS paperwork.
Upon receipt of your resume/cover letter you will be sent the date for the next information session. We do our best to ensure that it follows the required decision making timeline required by the post secondary schools.
