The John Howard Society of Durham Region (JHS) is a non-profit, social service agency in Ontario Canada. We are dedicated to serving individuals and families, youth and adults with programs in areas such as counselling, employment, literacy, housing, parenting, addictions, and more. Most of our services are free.

JHS Offices will be closed for a brief period of 11:30am-2:30pm on Thursday August 18th. We apologize for the time gap, will have regular services running in the hours before and after that period on that day.
International Overdose Awareness Day – Wednesday August 31st, 2022 from 10am-2pm. JOIN US at Memorial Park in Oshawa as we together, we reflect, educate and share in the discussions of how addiction impacts our communities. JHS is organizing a series of amazing community partners, each bringing their expertise and talents for you to connect with directly.

Operation throughout COVID-19 Conditions
The John Howard Society of Durham Region is continuing to provide services to our community.
Project X –Change will CONTINUE to have office hours in the Oshawa, Whitby and Bowmanville locations. Hours for each location have been modified and are available by calling the office you choose to visit. Mobile outreach will continue across the region from Monday to Friday 6 pm to 10 pm. During any Provincial Emergency lockdown status, we are unable to provide on-site service, except for our essential services of Harm Reduction, and Housing Services (by appointment only for Housing).
