The John Howard Society of Durham Region (JHS) is a non-profit, social service agency in Ontario Canada. We are dedicated to serving individuals and families, youth and adults with programs in areas such as counselling, employment, literacy, housing, parenting, addictions, and more. Most of our services are free.

The John Howard Society of Durham Region is continuing to provide services to our community.
Our agency has a new phone system coming May 20th, 2021. With a single, simple, short menu you will be able to reach out staff readily. Please note that on that day, there may be service interruptions to the phone lines as the transition work takes place.
Project X –Change will CONTINUE to have office hours in the Oshawa, Whitby and Bowmanville locations. Hours for each location have been modified and are available by calling the office you choose to visit. Mobile outreach will continue across the region from Monday to Friday 6 pm to 10 pm. During the Provincial Emergency lockdown status, we are unable to provide on-site service, except for our essential services of Harm Reduction, and Housing Services (by appointment only for Housing).
