The John Howard Society of Kingston & District is a non-profit organization committed to providing and developing a wide range of community-based services that address crime and its causes. We are dedicated to supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration efforts of those who have been in conflict with the law. Our organization has a strong history of helping people through the provision of prevention and intervention services, as well as advocacy and public education. We strive to offer programs that are evidence-based and responsive to our community needs thereby contributing to the development of a safe and healthy community for all.

All services are provided at no cost. Self-referrals are accepted.

Sudbury Shelter Closing – Could be a Big Mistake – CBC Morning North
March 15, 2019 - The new life centre closing in Sudbury means a loss of 22 beds for men needing emergency shelter. The John Howard Society says no city should be without an emergency shelter. He focuses on how inmates who are released from jail often don’t have anywhere to go, so they end up in the shelter until they get back on their feet.
