Maple Keys – Section 23 Classroom

The Maple Keys Classroom provides the opportunity for justice-involved youth to earn credits towards their OSSD while accessing other meaningful supports, including short-term psychoeducation programs and life skills-building opportunities. The youth are supported to maximize their academic success through smaller pupil to teacher ratios, in a safe, flexible class structure and environment conducive to teaching and learning that supports credit accumulation/recovery based on a students’ learning needs.

The program objectives are to address the specific needs of justice-involved youth and support their rehabilitation and reintegration into the community. The ultimate goal of the program is to return students to mainstream community classrooms as soon as appropriate.

The Maple Keys Classroom program is run in partnership by the John Howard Society of the Kawarthas and the Trillium Lakelands District School Board, and is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services.
