Residential Rehabilitation Program (RRP)
June 21, 2025 - The JHS residence offers interim housing to nine women and 39 men in our rehabilitative treatment facility. These individuals are currently involved or at risk of becoming involved in the Criminal Justice System.
By providing a safe place to reside, individuals are confident that their basic needs will be met and they can focus on addressing the underlying factors that have put them at risk. Anger Management Program
June 21, 2025 - The Anger Management program includes cognitive behavioural sessions on anger, stress, communication and conflict resolution. The program was developed by the Centre for Children and Families in the Justice System. This program focuses on providing participants with greater motivation and rationale for wanting to express anger constructively and incorporates a strong cognitive component in the group sessions. This is achieved by increasing skills training on interpersonal problem/conflict resolution and shifting the emphasis from traditional classroom approaches to learning through activities. Anger Management Program
June 21, 2025 - The men’s anger management programs is 12 sessions in length and offered on site at the JHS. The programs are open to anyone needing assistance to learn how to control their anger response. The main goal of the program is the prevention of violence. Fees for the program are based on a sliding scale and are in accordance with what one can afford. All participants complete an intake assessment and additional counselling is available for those who request it. Transportation assistance is available and light refreshments are sometimes available. Advocacy Service
June 21, 2025 - This service has been provided since the agency’s inception in 1949 and is currently offered when time permits on an ad hoc basis. Available to all members of the community as a preventive program, though generally utilized by former prisoners and/or their families, it allows for staff at JHS to provide their expertise and resources to advocate on a clients’ behalf. Individuals are assisted to meet their immediate needs and to be supported in accessing their rights as community members. This is a non-funded program. Affidavit Assistance
June 21, 2025 - This ad hoc service is open to JHS’ clients as well as members of the general community. This service allows for the provision of a sworn affidavit (with photograph) to be used as partial identification. This identification can assist with applications for welfare and similar services, as well as for visitation in the Sarnia Jail. This is not a funded service.
