June 21, 2025 - Prevention services are available to youth and families through the John Howard Society. This program includes the provision of evidence based, gender-specific group and individual counselling delivered by trained facilitators. Support for youth involved in prevention services could include a focus on healthy relationships, structured free time, the role of thoughts and thinking in risky behaviour, as well as increasing the connection to education and employment. Aggression Prevention
June 21, 2025 - The JHS Aggression Prevention program is an eight session program that assists adult male participants to explore the causes of their aggressive behavior and to identify and challenge the underlying beliefs and thinking patterns that lead to aggression. This program runs approximately six times per year. Please note that this program is not suitable for individuals who are currently dealing with the court system and/or being currently charged with domestic violence. Anger Management

Turn2Us Youth Empowerment Program
June 21, 2025 - The Turn2us – Youth Empowerment Program assists youth, aged 12-23, who are at risk of being involved in, or are currently involved in, gun and gang behaviour. Programming is geared towards youth from the black, Indigenous, and newcomer communities. The main component of the program is participation in an eight-session gun and gang violence prevention curriculum that is tailored to youth.

Teen’s Group
June 21, 2025 - The Youth Empowerment Program supports youth (males and females) aged 12-18 in developing leadership skills, critical awareness and opportunities to positively impact their own lives. The youth are involved in the design and implementation of the program activities, thereby “sharing power” with adults. The program assists youth to develop skills through exploration of teamwork, cultural diversity, critical thinking, peer relationships, family relationships, bullying, racism and other issues. The youth are introduced to positive role models through interaction with staff members and volunteers.

Navigating Relationships Program
June 21, 2025 - The John Howard Society offers a 6-session program focused on establishing and maintaining healthy relationships. The Navigating Relationships Program is a psycho-educational program focusing on skill building through the promotion of positive and healthy relationships.
Sessions are offered on a one-on-one basis.
