At the John Howard Society Peterborough we offer several rewarding volunteer opportunities. Please see below for a brief description of programs that require volunteers and feel free to connect directly with each program for further information.

Youth Justice Committee:

The Youth Justice Committee relies upon a team of skilled volunteers to facilitate restorative conferences. Community members who are interested in becoming volunteers must submit an application, attend an interview, and complete a mandatory training course. All volunteers are subject to review and approval by the Ministry of the Attorney General.

Community Mediation Program

The Community Mediation Program offers mediation supports for adult neighbours in conflict. Volunteers are trained to the Ontario Community Mediation Coalition (OCMC) standards and receive ongoing mentorship & training.

Aspire Program

The Aspire Program aims to support young adults, aged 17 – 25, achieve their training and employment goals through mentorship. We are currently recruiting volunteers with a variety of backgrounds and work experience.   Full training is provided as well as many other opportunities for personal and professional growth.
