Community Aftercare
June 21, 2025 - This program is offered at JHSWW Kitchener, Cambridge and Guelph offices. It provides assistance to people wishing to re-integrate into the community successfully. The aftercare program provides referrals to community resources such as social assistance, employment services, housing registries, food banks, mental health services and addiction treatment programs. The JHSWW Aftercare Coordinator provides one to one counselling, utilizing a cognitive-behavioural approach to alleviate criminogenic thinking and support clients with pro-social goals. Partner Assault Response (PAR) / Healthy Relationships
June 21, 2025 - This program is provided at the JHSWW Kitchener office only for Kitchener-Waterloo and the townships of Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich. It is geared towards helping individuals who have been abusive in their intimate partner relationships recognize the impact of abuse and grow in skills to prevent abuse and maintain healthy relationships. Both men’s and women’s groups are provided and both cover similar themes. Partner contact is provided for all of the groups. Partners for Healthy Relationships
June 21, 2025 - Based on models designed in Saskatchewan and West Virginia, this program is open to couples who have experienced domestic violence in their relationship and who are committed to remaining together. The men must have previously participated in a PAR domestic violence program (see above). Most participants have Family and Children’s Services involvement. The goal of this group program is to assist couples in becoming more supportive of one another through better communication and improved understanding of each other’s perspectives. Caring Dads
June 21, 2025 - This program is open to fathers, most of which have been involved with Family and Children’s Services. It provides an opportunity for them to gain the tools to heal and build relationships with their children with a child-centred focus. Delivered in Kitchener and Cambridge, Caring Dads is offered in partnership with Family and Children’s Services and provides group and individual counselling pursuant to the certification standards of the Caring Dads Program (caringdads.org). Each participant completes an intake assessment to determine their suitability for the group. All participation is voluntary. Back on Track
June 21, 2025 - This fee for service program is overseen by the Ministry of Transportation and is managed throughout the province by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. CAMH contracts with local service providers, such as JHSWW, to provide assessment, programming and follow-up for people who have lost their license due to an impaired driving offence. The program focuses on attitudinal and behavioural change with the goal of eliminating drinking and driving together.
