Adult Community Service Order Program (CSO)
June 21, 2025 - This program is offered on site at our Barrie and Orillia offices, 35 hours each week. This program is operated by JHS for the following Probation and Parole Offices: Barrie, Alliston, Collingwood, Orillia, Midland, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, and Huntsville. It is open to men and women, ages 18 and up, on probation with a condition to complete Community Service Hours. The goal of the program is to provide a meaningful and appropriate placement opportunity for the participant so that s/he and the agency can benefit from the community service work completed. Institutional Services
June 21, 2025 - These services are provided to inmates (and their family) who are in custody in the Central North Correctional Centre, Fenbrook Institution and Beavercreek Institution. Its goal is to assist individuals in their search for viable and sustainable post release and resettlement options. Services are offered by phone from the JHS’ main office site and in the institutions listed above. Case Management services are provided by JHS staff via monthly visits to all three institutions. Digital Access to Justice to Court Support
June 21, 2025 - With the shift to a digital platform, we recognized that there was not only a need for digital access, but also a deficit in digital literacy for many individuals. In addition to strengthening digital literacy and facilitating digital access, we also support individuals with: Accessing their disclosures, support for individuals working to retain counsel, assist clients in navigating the Legal Aid system, and any other appointments required by the courts. Community Education
June 21, 2025 - Since its inception in 1998, JHS has provided the community with an understanding of the work of the Society and its philosophy by sharing information in schools, at local community agencies, to citizen groups (e.g. service clubs), to the media, etc. This service is offered on an ad hoc basis and upon invitation from various groups. Record Suspension / Pardon
June 21, 2025 - Since having a criminal record negatively impacts people’s ability to find employment, all those who are eligible for a record suspension/pardon are encouraged to apply. JHS has been assisting to complete these applications for the past 10 years and continues to do so on a fee for service basis, which is set at $250 per applicant. (Ontario Works pays $250 for their clients plus the additional cost such as application, fingerprinting etc.). Finding Employment with a Criminal Record (FECR)
June 21, 2025 - This program is intended to assist adults who are having difficulty finding, obtaining and maintaining employment due to a criminal record. FECR will provide individuals with an opportunity to obtain the tools necessary to succeed in the workforce. The program is available to males and females 18 years of age and older. The program is offered 3 days a week for 4 weeks. Each session is 3 hours in length. June 21, 2025 - The Mental Health and Addictions Peer Support (MAPS) Program is staffed by Peer Support Workers, who are individuals with lived experience, and will work with you one-on-one to explore recovery goals and help connect you with community supports and services. MAPS provides connections to mental health services, addiction services, housing supports, cultural resources, accessing OW & ODSP, and more.
