Ending the Cycle

Ending the Cycle is a 10-week, cost-free early intervention program designed for young persons ages 15-24 who have been witness to emotional and/or physical abuse, neglect, aggression, or high-risk behavior within their familial unit. The program aims to change behavior, identify barriers, create∕learn about boundaries, and examine belief systems about domestic violence within young persons. This will be done through a series of weekly modules including the following topics:

  • Introduction to ETC
  • Understanding Gender-Based Violence
  • Healthy Relationships and Consent
  • Stereotypes and Building Awareness
  • Beliefs, Behaviours and Boundaries
  • Communication and Identifying Emotions
  • Mental Health and Building Resiliency
  • Personal Safety and Planning for the Future
  • Creating Change in Yourself: The Choice to Grow
  • Moving on and Moving Forward

Ending the Cycle

Youth Reintegration Program

The Youth Reintegration Program provides wrap-around case management support to youth ages 12-17 involved in the justice system. The goal is to enhance and extend support to youth involved with justice system to connect with supports to improve their outcomes in the community. This program focuses on providing specialized supports to build protective factors in youth through case management, 1:1 specialized counselling supports, intensive support, referrals to community resources, client advocacy and collaboration, and individual goal planning. 

The program addresses the need for

  • Acquiring stable housing and employment 
  • 1:1 clinical counselling supports
  • Accessing physical and mental health support
  • Employment support
  • Community connections
  • Social and emotional learning
  • Access to basic needs including food and rental assistance

Youth will work collaboratively with a reintegration worker and counsellor to support with goal planning, access to basic needs, and referrals to community resources.

 The service is offered both virtually and in person.

This program is available to you at no cost and supported by the Youth Justice Fund- Department of Justice

Home again provides wrap-around case management supports to young people ages 15-29.

The program addresses the need for

  • Acquiring stable housing
  • Employment support
  • Community connections
  • Social and emotional learning
  • Financial literacy
  • Family reunification
  • Access to basic needs including food and rental assistance
  • Life skills

Participants will be supported with self-directed goal planning, housing supports, access to basic needs, and referrals to community resources. This program is ideal for young people ages 15-29. The service is offered both virtually and in person.

This program is available to you at no cost and supported by United Way Greater Toronto.

Home Again

HYPE

The Healthy Youth Preventative Education (HYPE) Program is an evidence-based program that targets the prevention of violence through the promotion of positive, healthy relationships. The HYPE program offers small group sessions that promote healthy relationships and target a wide range of risk behaviours, and addictions among adolescents. Through this program, youth will be equipped to engage in healthier relationships and build social and emotional strengths.

This program is ideal for youth aged 11-25.

HYPE+

HYPE+ is an evidence-based program that helps build resiliency and promote well-being for 2SLGBTQ+ youth. HYPE+ offers small group sessions that promote positive mental health. In a safe space, youth engage in activities and generate discussion about what contributes to stress, well-being, and healthy relationships at school, home, and their community.

This program is ideal for youth aged 13-18.

Service Navigator program

This program serves priority groups, including youth ages 6-26, who are at risk of involvement with and/or victimization of crime, as well as gang involvement. The role of the Service Navigator includes helping clients navigate individual barriers to accessing services, providing emotional support to clients and families, explaining terminology, referring individuals to additional services, coordinating with providers, and responding to unique client needs.

This program is in partnership with Routes Connecting Communities. Routes will recruit 12 Ambassadors who will provide additional support and increase community engagement.

This program is funded through the Region of York.

Youth Counselling Program

The Youth Counselling Program is designed to build strengths, resilience and coping skills among youth. Through individualized one-on-one support, the Youth Counselling service provides free weekly sessions for youth to discuss issues affecting their lives. The counsellor will work collaboratively with the youth to enhance their understanding, overcome their challenges and meet their goals.

Referrals can be made for youth experiencing the following:

  • Mental health
  • Substance use
  • Relationship Conflict
  • Bullying
  • Stress
  • Criminal Justice Involvement

This program is ideal for youth aged 11-29. Counselling is offered across York Region.
