Extrajudicial Sanctions Program
June 21, 2025 - The Extrajudicial Sanctions Program is a post-charge diversion from the formal court process. This is an opportunity for youth to be accountable for their actions while recognizing the impact of their actions on their community. Clients referred to this program are provided with brief, offence-specific cognitive interventions. Funding is provided by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services – Youth Justice Services. Community Services
June 21, 2025 - The Community Services program is voluntary and open to both males and females, adults and youth, who are in crisis and facing on-going challenges with housing, poverty, addiction, mental health, criminal justice, relationships or self-management. The program’s goal is to provide counselling, support, advocacy and referrals to assist clients in achieving their identified personal goals. There is no wait list; however, clients are encouraged to make and keep appointments although they may be seen on a first come, first served basis. RESOLVE: Program for Anger Management and Emotional Regulation
June 21, 2025 - This cognitive-behavioural training program is designed to reduce anger, violence and emotional loss of control among youth, 13 to 24 years of age. The goal of the program is to provide youth with information about anger and other emotions and to teach them the skills necessary to reduce the frequency, intensity and duration of anger episodes. Facilitators will use psycho-educational instruction, role plays, discussions video and audiotapes, practical exercises, and homework exercises/assignments to convey new knowledge and skills to participants. Halton Youth Justice Committee
June 21, 2025 - The Halton Youth Justice Committee involves victims and communities in finding ways to help young people who have committed minor offences by accountable for their actions.
A Youth Justice Committee meeting brings together a young person between the ages of 12 and 17 who is alleged to have committed a low-risk offence, his or her parent(s) or guardian(s), the victim, and trained members of the community. Youth Court Support
June 21, 2025 - Staff attends court on a weekly basis in order to assist both the young person and their family in a variety of ways. These include: accessing Duty Counsel, understanding the court schedule and legal process, accessing a defense lawyer, informing on the changes in legislation (YCJA), program information about the services of the JHS and other community resources. Extrajudicial Measures (EJM)
June 21, 2025 - Measures are imposed on a young person (12 to 17 years old) as a pre-charge with the hope of addressing their issues before they have a criminal record. We work closely with officers from the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Services and the Peterborough County OPP. The young person must take responsibility for their actions which may include: Theft under $5000, mischief, possession of narcotics, shoplifting, and minor assault.
