Partner Assault Response (PAR)

This 12 week group program serves men and women who have been charged with domestic violence and assault. Each weekly session is two hours in length. Referrals are only accepted from the courts and probation. PAR is a psycho-educational program using various theories based on power, control and equality and assists participants to develop strategies for achieving healthy relationships. Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale ($120 to $360 for 12 weeks). The program is offered remotely and on-site.
The women’s group is separate from the men’s and utilizes a curriculum specific to the needs of women. All participants complete an intake assessment prior to beginning the program. In addition, JHS also provides the program in Bancroft. Clients requiring additional counselling are referred to other agencies in the community though some one on one work can be done outside of the group. Partner support is also provided. Funding is provided by the Ministry of the Attorney General.
