Hamilton Youth Drug Diversion Program (HYDDP)

Initiated by HPS to address the needs of youth 12-17 who are arrested for drug offences. The goal is to provide an alternative that assesses youth’s individual needs, and still hold them accountable for their actions. The youth is referred to the program by police and are instructed to contact JHS to arrange a meeting with a youth worker. Based on the youth’s substance use level, motivation to change, and other significant strengths and risks, the most appropriate intervention is determined.
