Finding Employment with a Criminal Record (FECR)
June 21, 2025 -This program is intended to assist adults who are having difficulty finding, obtaining and maintaining employment due to a criminal record. FECR will provide individuals with an opportunity to obtain the tools necessary to succeed in the workforce. The program is available to males and females 18 years of age and older. The program is offered 3 days a week for 4 weeks. Each session is 3 hours in length. Program topics include: Overcoming barriers to employment, discussing gaps in employment and finding work with a criminal record, positive communication in the work place, and emotion management and stress management. Guest speakers from employers, and other John Howard staff compliment the workshop. The facilitator also creates the opportunity to spend some of the group sessions in local employment resource centres. Currently, the program is offered in Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, and Midland.
