Direct Accountability
June 21, 2025 -The Direct Accountability runs out of the Oshawa Courthouse and is an alternative to formal prosecution for adults 18 and over who have been charged with a minor criminal offence. Individuals willing to accept responsibility for the actions that lead to the charge complete an assigned sanction within an agreed upon time period. Sanctions may include restitution, community service work, charitable donations, attending a program, writing a letter of apology or agreeing to a peace bond. Programming options include Anger and Substance Abuse Prevention and Stop-Shop-Theft programs. Funding is provided by the Ministry of the Attorney General.
