Course Description
This course will take users through various introductory components of helping individuals with criminal records find meaningful employment. It will provide an introduction on the justice system and justice system involvement, explain the different types of criminal records, different types of charges, what they can mean, and how they can appear on a criminal record check. The course will then cover working with clients who have criminal records, how to help them disclose a record to an employer, and how to assist someone who is looking to go through the record suspension process. Finally, users will learn advocacy techniques when trying to secure an employment opportunity for a client with a criminal record, and how employers who apply fair chance hiring principles to their recruitment and organization can increase the pools of talent from where they recruit and meet their labour needs on an ongoing basis by tapping into the talent of this population.
