A 12-session Domestic Violence Court initiative that delivers a specialized community-based group intervention program to individuals who have committed a criminal offence against a current or former intimate partner. The program has two primary goals: (1) to enhance safety and (2) to increase offender accountability.
Eligibility for the program is determined by the Crown Attorney and/or Probation office. The program is delivered through a psycho-education model where participants are given the opportunity to examine their beliefs and attitudes towards domestic abuse and to learn non-abusive ways of resolving conflict. Information and support are also provided to the victims of these crimes.
Fees for the program are based on a sliding scale that takes the participants income into consideration.
