John Howard Society of York Region operates the Federal Diversion Program in York Region. This is a fee for service initiative whereby selected individuals with federal charges are provided with an opportunity to be diverted from the traditional court process while still being held accountable for the offence.
Sanctions may include Community Service Hours or programming as deemed appropriate by the Crown Attorney.
To qualify for the program, an individual must be at least 18 years of age on the date of the offence and be charged within the schedule of offences acceptable for the Federal Adult Diversion Program. Eligibility for the program is determined by the Federal Crown Attorney.
