Youth Justice Committee

The Youth Justice Committee program is for youths who have been involved in a low-risk offence. It takes a systems approach that not only involves the young person, but also their family, guardians, the victim and trained members of the community.

Together, we walk through the offence and its impact and then negotiate an appropriate way to make amends. These sanctions, which could include attending counselling, school and workshops, are designed to also provide support to any underlying causes, including trauma, mental health, addiction or financial insecurity, that contributed to the criminal behaviour.

Our sanctions are focused on positivity and support early intervention so that the young people who come to us don’t end up in our adult programs down the road.
